What is the IGCSE?

The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is the world’s most popular international qualification for students aged 14–16 (Year 10 and Year 11). It is recognised and respected by universities in over 160 countries.

The IGCSE is designed for international learners, unlike a standard GCSE — which is UK-centric. IGCSE offers a broader, more globally relevant curriculum and is widely taught in private schools, international schools, and British curriculum schools worldwide.

Students typically sit IGCSE exams in the May/June and October/November sessions. Results are graded from A* to G (Cambridge) or 9 to 1 (Edexcel), with A* / Grade 9 being the highest.

Strong IGCSE performance is the foundation for A-Levels, IB Diploma, AP courses, and university admissions — making expert tutoring at this stage genuinely impactful.

The Most Demanded IGCSE Subjects

 Mathematics

Mathematics is the most requested IGCSE subject worldwide. It is compulsory, it builds cumulatively, and gaps from earlier years compound quickly. Our IGCSE Maths tutors cover Cambridge 0580 (Mathematics) and 0606 (Additional Mathematics), as well as Edexcel 4MA1. Sessions focus on algebra, geometry, number, statistics, and probability — along with structured problem-solving technique for Paper 2 and Paper 4.

Biology

Cambridge 0610 and Edexcel 4BI1 Biology tutoring covers the core topics: cell biology, genetics, ecology, respiration, photosynthesis, and human physiology. Tutors focus on data-response questions, diagram labelling, and command word recognition — the skills that determine whether a student scores 5 or 8 marks on a structured question.

Physics

Physics is the second most tutored IGCSE subject. Our tutors cover Cambridge 0625 and Edexcel 4PH1 — with particular focus on the Alternative to Practical paper (Paper 6), unit conversions, formula manipulation, and the “explain” and “describe” question types that cost students the most marks.

English Language

IGCSE English Language (Cambridge 0522 / Edexcel 4EA1) is one of the most nuanced papers. Our tutors specialise in reading comprehension inference, summary writing, directed writing, and the writer’s effect analysis questions that trip up even strong readers. Students learn to structure responses efficiently and write to specific word counts without losing marks.

Chemistry

IGCSE Chemistry (Cambridge 0620 / Edexcel 4CH1) requires a balance of conceptual understanding and precise written answers. Our chemistry tutors are experts at teaching mole calculations, organic chemistry, rates of reaction, and the practical/ATP paper technique that distinguishes a C grade from an A*.

Economics & Business Studies

For Cambridge 0455 (Economics) and 0450 (Business Studies), our tutors help students master the “evaluate” and “discuss” question types that require structured argument — not just knowledge recall. Sessions cover supply and demand, market structures, business decision-making, and how to write 8-mark and 12-mark answers that score full marks.
